Receiver of Taxes

The Receiver of Taxes in the Town of Manlius is an elected position, which consists of a four-year term. The Receiver and staff are available to collect School and County & Town taxes. In addition to collecting taxes, the staff is available to offer assistance and to provide the following:

  • Copies of paid tax receipts may be obtained upon request. Taxpayer's requesting a paid receipt must please bring in or mail their entire bill. A receipt will be returned in person or by mail. If taxes are in escrow, the receipted bill will be forwarded directly to the taxpayer.
  • Third party notices are available for property owners, who due to illness or age, wish to have a concerned party also receive a copy of their tax bill.
  • Second notices are sent out for unpaid County & Town Taxes as of March 15th.
  • Partial payments may be made on the County & Town taxes. The first payment must be at least 50% of the bill and paid on or before the due date, prior to penalty periods. Each payment thereafter must be at least 50% of the balance due, plus any penalties incurred. Four partial payments may be made during the County & Town collection. There may be no delinquent taxes.

Furthermore, any "new property owners" in the Town of Manlius should notify the Tax Office as soon as possible. It takes time for changes in ownership to be reported to the Town. Therefore, a tax bill may be sent to the previous owner. So for your own protection, call and advise the Tax Office where you would like your bill to be sent, as it is the home owner’s responsibility to check on the taxes.

Q: When will I receive my tax bill, and when is it due?
A: Your county and town bill will be mailed around January 1st, and is due without penalty by January 31st. Your school tax bill will be mailed around September 1st, and is due without penalty by October 1st.

Q: Where do I pay my taxes?
A: Your taxes can be paid in person at the Tax office located in Town Hall, 301 Brooklea Dr., Fayetteville, NY 13066 Monday through Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. If mailing your taxes, they need to be mailed to the Tax Office at the above address and must be post office postmarked by the due date.

Q: Will I have to pay a penalty if I never received a tax bill?
A: Yes, it is the homeowners responsibility to pay the bill whether they received one or not. For that reason, it is important that you notify the Tax Office if you are a new owner, have changed your mailing address or no longer escrow your taxes.

Q: Can my taxes be paid with a credit card?
A: No. Your taxes can only be paid by cash or check.

Q: How do I receive a receipt when I have paid my taxes?
A: When paying your tax bill by mail or in person, present the whole bill when making your payment, and it will be receipted for you.
