Q: What if I disagree that I am in the flood zone?
A: The Town of Manlius does not have the authority to remove, or help you remove
your property from a flood zone. To have your property removed from the flood
zone, you must go to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA can be
contacted at 1-877-FEMA MAP, or by visiting the FEMA
Flood Hazard Mapping website.
Q: What is the Town of Manlius role in the Flood Hazard Mapping Program?
A: The Town of Manlius administers the Flood Hazard Mapping Program. The Town
can help you locate your property on the flood zone maps; However, we need a
survey of the property in order to make this determination. If your property has
been found to be in the flood zone by FEMA, even if the Town of Manlius determines
that it is outside the flood zone, you must go to FEMA to be removed. FEMA will
not remove you from the flood zone based on the fact it is the Town of Manlius's
opinion that your property is outside the flood zone. You must provide the
documentation that FEMA requests to be removed.
