In our effort to find the best Police Officer candidates available for positions within our agency, the Town of Manlius Police Department welcomes qualified certified police officers who are seeking to develop their careers through transfer opportunity.
The Town of Manlius Police Department offers an attractive compensation package that includes a competitive salary, overtime, longevity, holiday pay, incentive pay, vacation leave up to 24 days, personal and compensatory time leave, sick and disability leave, bereavement leave, educational benefits, uniforms and dry cleaning services. Consideration is given for prior law enforcement experience.
To be eligible for transfer to the Town of Manlius Police Department, a candidate must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Must be employed as a full-time as New York State Civil Service competitive classification of Police Officer or must be eligible for reinstatement pursuant to Civil Service Rules.
- The Onondaga County Department of Personnel must verify eligibility and consent to the transfer pursuant to the conditions of the Rules for Classified Service.
- Must possess a basic police officer training certification from the New York State Municipal Police Training Council.
- Must have an exemplary law enforcement service record.
- Must be of good moral character with no conviction of a felony. Conviction of a misdemeanor or other offence, including traffic violation, may bar appointment.
- Must successfully complete a physical, psychological and polygraph examination prior to appointment.
