The Special Investigations Section, or “SIS” conducts follow-up investigation
into certain crimes and incidents following the initial response,
investigation, and transfer of case responsibility by the
Field Services
Section. SIS has primary responsibility for:
- Providing investigative support to the Field Services Section
- Criminal investigations that are extensive in scope
- Investigations which require special liaison with other law enforcement agencies
- Organized crime and vice control
- Criminal intelligence operations and informant management
- Examination and preservation of physical evidence
- Conducting background investigations
- Family Services and Juvenile Operations
- School Information and Resource Officer Program
- Special investigations as assigned by the Chief of Police
