The Manlius Town Board implemented the Trash and Brush Districts on January 1, 2005 in an effort to reduce
the cost of trash and brush removal to Town residents. The Town of Manlius secured a contract with Syracuse
Haulers for three years with the option to extend the contract another two years.
How much does it cost and how do I pay for it?
In 2009, the annual cost for trash removal for a one family residence is $119, a two family residence is
$159, and a three family is $202.
The charge appears on the January Town & County Tax bill each year for the upcoming year. However, if you are
opting into the district mid year, please contact the Trash & Brush Coordinator for the prorated fee.
How do I sign up or how do I know if my residence is signed up?

What if I live in one of the Villages’ within the Town?
You must contact the Village in which you live for specific information on their trash program.

How many bags of trash can I put out at the curb per week?
You are allowed to put out up to (8) 32 gallon bags per week and there is no requirement on the color of the bags.
However, each bag must weigh less than 50 pounds full.
Can I put out other items like construction and debris, furniture, household appliances, etc. with my trash?
No, the contract between the Town and Syracuse Haulers is only for the pickup of household trash in garbage bags.

Is there a specific way to put my trash out for pickup?
You should put your trash out the night before your scheduled pickup since the trucks can be through your
neighborhood as early as 6 a.m. or as late as 6 p.m.
You may put your trash out in bags, although, we don’t recommend doing that due to animals getting into the
bags and spreading the trash.
You may also rent a 95 gallon receptacle on wheels from Syracuse Haulers for $64.95 a year. If you are interested
in doing that, you should contact Syracuse Haulers directly to arrange for payment directly with them. Syracuse

You may also purchase your own receptacles. However, they must be less than 45 gallons in size and weigh less
than 50 pounds full.
Where can I get a blue recycling bin?
Recycling bins are available at the Town Clerks’ office in the Town Hall, 301 Brooklea Drive Fayetteville, NY
from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. They are also available at the Town of Manlius Highway Department
on Clemons Road from 7 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday.
