The Town of Manlius Police Department's continued goal is to ensure the safety of all motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Traffic Enforcement is a tool utilized by police to reduce personal injury and property damage. In an effort to encourage safe driving habits, a new traffic enforcement program designed to target aggressive driving traits was started in 2007.
Selective enforcement campaigns target high volume areas using statistical data from crash investigation reports. Location, time of day, and causes are all factors the traffic coordinator looks at when a new enforcement campaign is being put together. Traffic Enforcement efforts include:
Click it or Ticket
School safety zone enforcement
Speed and traffic pattern surveys
Stop DWI (driving while intoxicated)
"Your speed" radar trailers
Reduction of Crashes
A review of the current traffic program has shown the number of preventable motor vehicle crashes within the Town of Manlius has seen a significant reduction since the implementation of the traffic enforcement program.
