Organization

The Town of Manlius Police Department is a paramilitary organization that uses a typical hierarchical structure for its routine operations. The department is comprised of two divisions; operations and administrative.

Operations Division

The Operations Division is responsible for providing direct and general police services to the public. These services include, but are not limited to, the:

  • Apprehension of offenders
  • Identification of criminal offenders and criminal activity 
  • Protection of constitutional guarantees of all people
  • Protection of life and property
  • Reduction of opportunities for the commission of crime
  • Resolution of conflict

Other Duties

In addition, the Operations Division is primarily responsible for providing continuous:

  • School Information Resource Officers (SIRO's)
  • Bicycle patrol
  • Conducting investigations of all crimes and serious incidents 
  • Evidence collection and preservation
  • Patrol coverage
  • Property security
  • Traffic operations

Administrative Division 

The Administrative Division is responsible for providing support for the effective and efficient operation of the police department. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Community relations
  • Crime analysis
  • Crime prevention
  • Fiscal and property management
  • Inventory control
  • Juvenile operations
  • Law enforcement accreditation
  • Personnel
  • Planning and research
  • Police vehicle maintenance and acquisition
  • Public information
  • Recruiting
  • Special investigations
  • Training
