Child Safety

Free Child Identification Program

While these are not official forms of identification (ID), they are a useful tool for any police agency to use should your child become missing or lost. Parents or guardians should keep the ID in their wallet so it is readily available should the unthinkable occur.

Child IDs include the following:

  • Current Photograph
  • Date of Birth
  • Hair and Eye Color
  • Height
  • Image of a Fingerprint
  • Weight

Card Events

The Town of Manlius Police Department hosts several child ID card events throughout the year where parents can get a free ID for their child, or update an older outdated one. To find out when the next event will be, please call (315) 682-2212.

Free Child Safety Seat Inspection

Studies have shown that 85% of child passenger safety seats are installed in vehicles improperly which may lead to injury and possibly death to young children when a vehicle has to make an emergency stop or is involved in a motor vehicle crash. The Town of Manlius Child Safety Seat program provides free inspections of child passenger safety seat installations by a certified Child Safety Seat Inspector. If a seat is installed incorrectly, the technician will teach the individual the proper way to install the car seat. A car seat technician inspects a child safety seat
