The BAR meets once a year, the fourth Tuesday in May (Grievance Day), to hear complaints regarding residential, vacant, farm and commercial property assessments within the town. Grievance Day is followed by several days of deliberations, depending on the number of complaints filed. Informal meetings with the Assessor's Office regarding assessment questions or next year's tax roll can take place throughout the year.
Members are appointed for a five year terms by the Town Board. The Chairperson is appointed each year for a one year term. Members are required to receive training from the New York State Real Property Services at least once during each term.
